The best time to reflect and meditate

The seasons are cycles, and just like our life we have cyclic times of new beginnings/growth (Spring), radiating energy (Summer), harvest (Late Summer), time to gather/sort (Autumn), and reflection/meditation (Winter).  You can be in a different cycle to the seasons, and this often can cause a feeling of being at odds with life.  Know you can do different things in any season, it just may be more challenging.  (Note: the northern and southern hemispheres make a difference too.)  However, you will experience a greater ease and support if you do life within the flow of the seasons.

This winter we will focus on reflection and meditation.  What does this mean?  Winter is the best time to reflect and meditate.  You can reflect on your life, your choices, your life purpose, your next book, your next workshop etc.  Ask yourself what would create the highest good for you to reflect on now?  The way you reflect can be through meditation and silence.  Or if that is challenging for you, try a mantra.  My favourite mantra is the Ganesha mantra for the removal of all obstacles:  “Om Gum Ganapatayei Namaha”.  Better still work with your favourite positive word, such as Love, Light, Peace, Truth, or Joy.

Suggested way to reflect and meditate:

  1.  Choose a quiet space, and turn off all social media and phones.
  2.  Sit comfortably and set a time space (eg. 1min, 5mins, 10mins, 20mins)
  3.  Ensure you are hydrated, and have also gone to the toilet
  4.  Create a sacred space e.g. you may wish to create a circle or a medicine wheel
  5.  Invite only the highest good into your sacred space.
  6.  Have paper and pen for writing down any gems from your reflection time.
  7.  Allow the reflects to unfold, and set another time and space for you to continue.

3.  Use your rosary or mala beads to time your meditation.

4.  The elements can be used in your meditation to create balance and harmony.  The elements are the basis of all things energy,  so each individual will find that they may need more or less of each element to create balance.
