Stomach Fat

Many people get concerned about their stomach fat.  The recommended waist measurement is under 80cm for women and under 94cm for men – NHFofAus link.

As a PT, you are required to make people aware that stomach fat can be the precursor to diabetes and heart conditions.  Key points to remember:

– Stomach fat can be a combo of stress/hormones and excess calories.

– Spot exercise can build muscle yet not reduce fat.  The only way to reduce specific spot fat is cardio/overall exercise.

In simple terms:  Keep up the exercise, reduce stress and monitor your calories.

You got this!

Remember to check your food portion size, as your stomach is only the size of your palm.  It is not just the caloric level but also the size.  Are you eating portions that are larger than your palm?

It’s a great visual aid.  Look at the size of your palm, and check the size of your meal?  Food for thought!!
