Lifestyle Choices

This reflection is written to inspire thought around lifestyle choices.  This is not about judging choices, it is about understanding, why you make the choices you do.

Lifestyle choices are the choices you make to live the life you choose.  Your decisions about food, exercise, sleep, smoking, alcohol, drug use, risk of infection and accidents; form behaviours for your lifestyle.  Your cultural, socioeconomic status, education, family, social network, gender, and age will often have an effect on your choices.

Once you have made the choices for your chosen lifestyle, what factors will come into play that will challenge your behaviours.

You know what you know. You don’t know what you don’t, until you do!  When you come across further information and knowledge, this effects your lifestyle choices.  When you are presented with health challenges, this may effect your lifestyle choices.  Family and social network will effect your lifestyle choices.  Your gender and age may effect your lifestyle choices.

Doing a SWOT analysis on your lifestyle choices, will assist you to know your strengths and weakness, understand your opportunities and mitigate your risks.

Are you strongly influenced by your family and social network?  How can you mitigate the risk against your chosen lifestyle choices?  It’s challenging to stand in your truth.  Breathe, decide what is worth standing your ground for, and where you are willing to be flexible.  Know if someone crosses your boundaries anger and resentment is common.  Mitigate the risk.

Are you strongly influenced by further information and knowledge?  How can you mitigate the risk against your chosen lifestyle choices?  It’s challenging to stand in your truth, when further or new information or knowledge is presented.  Breathe.  In each moment decide what is your highest good.

Are you strongly influenced by any health challenges, your gender or age?  How can you mitigate the risk against your chosen lifestyle choices at any age?  What are you willing to do?  What is your perception around health challenges, your gender or age?  How will this effect your lifestyle choices?

For every choice you make there are consequences.  Are you aware that your behaviours effect your lifestyle choices?  What are you willing to do?
