Stress Management

No matter what you are doing in life; stress can turn something you enjoy, into an uncomfortable situation; if you don’t manage your stress.  Whether it’s your birthday, a work day or a holiday, all can be stressful.  How do you currently manage your stress?  Is it with ease; never or sometimes.  Use the tools and techniques that work for you.

What is Stress?  Stress is a process.  It is an imbalance between our demands and our resources.  The level of stress is affected by attitude, personality, approach to life, supports, Finding your self esteem and coping strategies towards a situation.  Stress is our body’s reaction to situations which may frighten, excite, confuse, anger, frustrate, surprise, or please us.

Some key tools and techniques:

Change the way you talk to yourself.  Be aware of the potentials for negative or positive self talk.  Release the negatives – I should, I shouldn’t, I can’t, If only or Yes but; and replace with the positives – It’s ok, It would be nice if, It will be alright, Everyone makes mistakes, I can, and know you are better then that and next time you will be.

Learn to Relax – Learn ways to Relax, in a complete way so it is time out for the body.

Learn to Meditate – Medtiation can assist to degarb the mind, and shift the brain waves.

Visualisation to manage a situation – see within your mind, before you do.  It is the art of seeing yourself in the situation before you are actually there.  Sports stars use this principle. See the ball, going through the hoop/into the hole.  Use this method, to see yourself coping in the situation easily with your tool kit.

Do one thing each day that you enjoy.

Balance your time.

Set limits or boundaries – healthy boundaries (Webinar in archives)

Breathing, or breath control is one of the first key ways – Pranayama

Journalling to release tension, and to gain perspective.

Change your diet or beverages that are supportive.  Change the way you exercise. Know your Dosha or gunas. 

Use what works for you.  Enjoy your life.  Reflect on what works for you.
