Moontime

The female menstrual cycle symbolically is about flow.  Ancient cultures have linked the moon time to this cycle.  Some were fearful of this time, as it encompassed the power of creation.  There is a building and release.  A creating, manifest, release and renewal.

Often the release portion of the cycle can be symbolically connected to deep cleansing and release of old energies. On an energetic level the energy centres and endocrine system are linked with the balance of hormones.  When the centres are balanced the endocrine system and hormones are balanced.

There are cycles within cycles and archetypes within these cycles of a child, moving into a maiden, moving into the fertile potential mother years, and then finally moving into the crone.  The child is symbolic of spring, beginnings, the growing moon.  The maiden is symbolic of summer, adventure and moving into the half moon, and then growing further into the fertile time as it moves into the fullness of the moon, birthing of creation, celebration to the move through as the time of autumn of gathering the harvest, the creations, the abundance, as it then moves into the new moon the time of the crone symbolic of winter into the mystery.

This cycle continues until the mystery and wisdom of the crone becomes the guiding light within the darkness of the moon.  This is again a symbolic cycle of holding the crone energy a little longer as integration of the mystery, wisdom, power and intuition becomes everyday.

The moon time is a way of honouring the feminine power.  Whether you are male or female, yang or yin, sun or moon, day or night, you can honour where you are within your journey.  This can be through living the experience or through the symbolic cycles.
