Let’s talk about emotion

Emotions are like a lake. Some emotions create but a ripple, others waves and then there are those that create a stillness, a tranquility. Everyone can find their own lake of tranquility.

Over a lifetime we are taught by our family, our peers, our society what is considered acceptable emotion. Indeed we learn to judge our emotions. Very few teach how to process and actually deal with an emotion.

Have you ever watched a child, that yet has not been taught to judge; how they indeed will process their emotions quickly and can move through the range of emotions rapidly. As adults those emotions which we don’t process, we seem to store for a later date. Until a trigger occurs and that trigger becomes our release value. Sometimes that trigger is a person, often someone close to you, whom you unleash the wave of held back emotions upon. Often this means that the cycle continues, unless a person can become conscious of what they are doing.

As people age, if they have dealt with their emotions, and become conscious, they indeed will find their own lake of tranquility. However, if a person has been taught to judge and suppress then they will have many waves with demons riding them. There is a point you have a choice. Here are some important choice points.

  • No matter what you have been taught, you can choose differently.
  • When you find yourself in a wave of emotion, STOP, observe. Did this emotion really come from this moment, or is it from the past.
  • Processing an emotion is like detective work. You are seeking its source and its true purpose.
  • Some emotions ride very high waves because underneath them are many hurts and wounds.
  • In identifying an emotions true purpose, you can heal, you can forgive, you can learn, you can make choices that are conscious.

What can you do yourself to find that lake of tranquillity?

  • Journal or express through creative mediums – paint, draw, sand play, sing, dance, etc
  • Meditate
  • Energy work – eg. Chelation, chakra balance
  • Physical activity – eg. Yoga, Chiball, Walk, Housework, etc

Energy work will often stir up those held back emotions. This will only happen when you are ready to deal with your past. At some point everyone will need to deal with and face their past emotions. It is about understanding the lessons, and seeking the value in any difficult or traumatic situation, and choosing to “make lemonade from lemons”. In that choice moment you turn a corner, and there before you in your lake of tranquility.

May each of you find your lake of tranquility with ease. Many blessings.
