Gap Analysis

Sharon was asked what is gap analysis?  This is the reflection to cover this enquiry.

Gap Analysis is the ability to look at what is on paper and what is actually happening to see the gap.  There are many ways, Sharon has participated in gap analysis to assist others.

Through listening to a person talk, and observing their actions, to note if they can WALK the TALK.  Don’t just tell me what you can do, show me.

Through an audit process of identifying what is actually being covered in all business plans/operations, marketing, finance, safety, training and human resource, with the comparison of policy and procedural documentation of what should be covered.

Through SWOT analysis by identifying potentials in STRENGTHS, WEAKNESS, OPPORTUNITIES & THREATS and seeking an action plan.  Define your action plan through what & why, how & who, resources & when, measure and priority.

Through SWOT analysis converted to SCORE for individuals STRENGTHS, CHALLENGES, OPPORTUNITIES, RISKS & EVERYTHING and seeking an action plan for what the individual is willing to do.

Through SWOT analysis on a situation to understand the situation more fully and see the bigger picture.

Through facilitating a SWOT analysis in a team environment to brain storming and understand a project or event from the bigger picture and wider view.

Through personal motivational interviewing to identify what is working, what is not working, what solutions can be offered, where does the individual see themselves in 3/5/10 years, and how could the business/organisation assist.  Using this information to assist in change management to improve the right fit module for cohesive team work.

Through using the most current methods available, i.e. psych analysis to observe the right fit for the role.

Through reading through all business plans, policies and procedures and asking what the person on the floor knows to evaluate the gaps in induction training.

And much more dependant on the unique and individual situation in personal, business, corporate or organisational life.

What would you like to analyse, to find any gaps you may have missed?  Sharon can assist you, just ask.
