Finding strength

Life is a learning experience.  You can be assured, there will be lessons and change.  Enjoy the moments where your lessons happen with ease and grace.  Enjoy the good times, for when the going gets challenging, you will need your strength.

“Finding strength” can mean many things to many people.  For some, it is about their physical body, and how they can increase their muscle mass, and tone their body.  For others, it will be the emotional, mental or spiritual strength to continue after a challenging emotional, mental or spiritual time.  How do you find strength?

Strength is found in many ways, often through a purpose, a goal, a vision or a mission.  Strength can be found in faith, knowing you are never alone.  Strength can be found in hope, knowing that all thing are possible.  When people share their stories of overcoming challenges we are given faith and hope.

In 2002 Sharon wrote a PDF book on “Life” with the permission of several people (including herself).   She interviewed those to share their stories, and some chose to write in their own words, with Sharon just as editor.  All gave 2-3 messages to those going through a similar challenge.

Here are the words of wisdom from these people, that found their strength, in many ways, going through their challenge.  At the time they gave these words, they were all in a good space.

Hodgkin’s disease – 1. If it is the type of treatment where you loose your hair, shave it off.  2. Communicate with people. Seek support, opening up your field of information to a network of assistance. I got through with many cups of tea and support.

A malignant brain tumour – 1. Have faith.  2. Believe in the power of your own mind. You can heal yourself.

Suicide of a family member – 1. For those relating to a potential suicide: there is a point that suicidal people go to, where it is hard to reach them.  They become very self-centred and rationalize their actions when they think of others. It seems difficult to communicate to them the devastation it would leave for others, not only family but also friends and colleagues. You can only help them if they choose to accept.  2. For potential suicides: the reality is there are other choices you can make when everything seems hopeless. Somebody put it well when they described suicide as a permanent solution to a temporary problem.  3. For survivors of suicide: acknowledge what you feel, however socially unacceptable the emotions. When you can feel compassionately about yourself it flows on to how you feel about the person who died and leaves a more balanced memory. Seeking help with someone with professional experience of this situation can be invaluable.

A car accident – 1. No matter what anyone says – believe that you can create the biggest difference in your body and your life.  2. No matter what the odds, keep your faith in a bigger picture.  3. Choose to learn your lessons the easy way.

Bulimic – 1. Admit to your problem/challenge. 2. Seek knowledge and/or assistance. 3. Look at your thoughts and feelings. 4. Learn to love yourself, for when you truly love yourself you have no wish to hurt yourself or others.

Car problems – Blown tyre – 1. Learn to change a tyre, before you need to on an open road. 2. When in great need, and there is noone else around, ask a higher power for the strength to get you through.  If you need to be towed – 1. If someone offers to tow you, ask if they have done it before; suggesting a speed of no greater then 70km on an open road; and make sure the towrope is not overly long. 2. If you find yourself in a difficult situation, do all you can; then trust and surrender. 3. If you need to learn TRUST choose to do it an easier way.

If your child sees an angel on the front of a train, and it stops you from crossing the train track – 1. Be in each moment.  2. Listen to your children.  3. Believe in miracles.

Physical health issues – 1. No matter what anyone says or does for you, your biggest answers come from within.  2. Be aware of you thoughts and how they affect your body. Make all your thoughts good ones or at least thoughts that will assist your healing.  3. You can rise above anything – have faith in yourself.

Breast cancer – 1. Talk to someone that has been through a similar experience, or at the least have someone to talk to.  2. Have faith and Pray, and get on with life.  3. Look after your health. Watch your exercise and diet. Look at meditation and other natural therapies, these things will help you to cope.

Sexuality issues – 1. Love yourself for who you are. Accept your sexuality. 2. Know that your sexuality is just another part of who you are just like your nose or your foot. It cannot be hidden or denied.  3. Work on balancing your chakra system. Find peace in meditation.

Many thanks to those that gave these words of wisdom, and many prayers for all to find an easier way through their challenges with grace.  Find your strength, or seek assistance.
