Finding stillness in the rush

As we dash about our daily life, it takes awareness to find stillness in the rush.  While feeling the impatience of waiting for traffic, I took a breath, and choose to enjoy the moment.  What a difference it makes… No more impatience, only peace and stillness.  During family celebrations, I found myself trying to control the mess, so I took a breather, relaxed.   Then I was pushed a littler further and had a moment of anger, I took a break, had a shower, shifted my space, did some emails, and then went back to the family in a different space.  I apologised for my moment, and let it go.

Find ways to find stillness in your day.  Here are some suggestions:

– find time each day to mediate.  When life is busy, I find time to mediate in the wee hours of the morning in bed, sitting up with pillows under my torso.  I consciously meditate, and then I allow myself to move back into sleep.

– breathe.  Sounds too easy, but it makes a difference.  the deeper the breath, the more it balances your emotions and thoughts.

– find the moment in-between the moment, slow the rush down.  Create perfect timing.

– shift your space – take a walk, have a shower, do something else, when shifted you can see, feel, hear and know, your situation better.

– Forgive yourself, no matter how far you go, you are human, forgive yourself, apologise and let go.

– Forgive others, they are doing the best they can with what they see, feel, hear and know.

If all else fails remember, two quotes from “the Lion King'(1994). “It doesn’t matter. It’s in the past…” and  “Oh yes, the past can hurt…..you can either run from it, or… learn from it.”

Adult Simba: I know what I have to do. But going back means I’ll have to face my past. I’ve been running from it for so long.

[Rafiki hits Simba on the head with his stick]

Adult Simba: Ow! Jeez, what was that for?

Rafiki: It doesn’t matter. It’s in the past.

[laughs]

Adult Simba: Yeah, but it still hurts.

Rafiki: Oh yes, the past can hurt. But from the way I see it, you can either run from it, or… learn from it.

[swings his stick again at Simba, who ducks out of the way]

Rafiki: Ha. You see? So what are you going to do?”

SO WHAT are YOU going to DO??

If you need assistance, to find the stillness in your rush, or to find ways to let go, just ask.
