Challenging emotions

We all experience emotions.  It often depends on what life experience we are currently moving through how emotions surface, and if there is a link to a past event.

Some quick reference *keys to understanding an emotion.

*Anger when used appropriately can fuel change, when not, can be destructive.  It can have the underlying emotion of HURT, and hidden REGRET.

*Resentment can be frozen ANGER.

*Guilt can surface when we act or feel differently to what we expect of ourselves.  It can be empowering to choose what needs to be done to resolve guilt.

*Regret comes from unfilled potential and can encompass pain and sorrow.  It can be blocked by fear, anxiety and embarrassment.  It is often the last emotion we release before letting go and accepting.

*Fear can be about “False evidence appearing real”.

When we fail to express our emotions in healthy ways, we may fall ill, become stressed, socially withdraw, explode, and lessen our ability to experience pleasure and happiness.

In Sharon’s words “Anger can be very motivating.  When doctors told me I may not walk again when I was 16, I got angry, and got myself out of bed and made myself use crutches so I could leave hospital.  4mths later I went for a checkup, and was ask why I was still using a walking stick, and why I didn’t have a job, as I lost the one I had due to the need for rehabilitation.  I got angry, and got the first job I could find.  It was a cooks assistant/cleaner in an aged care home.  It was a split shift. I had to walk each day before breakfast and then return in the afternoon.  I had to use a polishing machine.  I quickly no longer needed the walking stick.  Anger can motivate.  I did this for 8wks, and then found a clerical job.  Find what you need to do to feel empowered.  And do it. Transmute anger to motivation.  That has been my experience, may you be inspired to find yours. Blessings on your journey.”
