Celebration of Life

Every day is a blessing, and when it comes to the end, the best way to remember your love one is with a celebration of their life. It is a challenging time when you loose a loved one, however it can become a time of remembrance when the ceremony is written on the story of their life. Whether this is for a funeral or a memorial, it is a remembrance of their life.

The suggested format for the ceremony, will depend on family and friends, if they are wishing to participate or if they would prefer to just have input. How large or small your ceremony will depend on beliefs and cultural requirements. Sometimes at the funeral it can be highly emotional and not all family and friends may be able to say all the things they would wish, so a memorial ceremony one-to-two years later can be that time that family and friends make their final farewell.

Things that will help you put a beautiful ceremony together:  Know what music was your loved ones favourites; start a draft outlining the high points of your loved ones life, this will evolve into the eulogy; if it feels appropriate have a space in the ceremony for shared remembrances; have some final words that sum up your loved one, and a favourite song to finish.

It is a challenging time, and if all family and friends assist it can be a time to celebrate your loved one’s life.  May you find the path, that is just right, for you and yours.
